Bio
Emma is a Assistant Professor in the Trinity College Dublin School of Computer Science and Statistics. Her research interests include the areas of learning analytics, mathematics/statistics education in higher education, supporting student support services through data analytics and student mental health research.
Previously, Emma was a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Statistics with the UCD School of Mathematics and Statistics. As part of this role, she taught statistics and probability as well as programming to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Also, she was a supervisor for students undertaking a thesis for their Masters in Statistics.
Her postdoctoral research, with the UCD School of Psychology, was on establishing the national standardised database for higher education student counselling services (https://www.tcd.ie/Student_Counselling/3set/wp1/). This was a Higher Education Authority funded project.
Emma completed her PhD in University College Dublin in 2019. Her PhD was entitled: “Learning Analytics and Mathematics Education: Complementary approaches to supporting non-specialist students at undergraduate level”.
