个人简介
My major interest is to study brain dynamics at the microcircuit level in health and neuropsychiatric disorders. For this, I am combining advanced multichannel neuronal recordings and recent neuro-manipulation tools (optogenetics and pharmacogenetics) to record from and manipulate single neurons and neural ensembles in interacting brain regions during eco-ethologically relevant behaviors, to ultimately uncover the neural mechanisms generating and supporting such behaviors.
From 2015 to 2020, I developed my PhD work at the Instituto de Medicina Molecular, University of Lisbon, where I joined the Remondes Lab. There, I focused on rodent foraging behaviors as a model for spatial working memory and studied the underlying cingulate-hippocampal interactions. In 2020, I became interested in social behaviors and moved to the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, University of Coimbra, where I joined João Peça's Lab (Neuronal Circuits and Behavior Group) as a postdoctoral researcher. My current topic of research is the characterization of cingulate- and prefrontal-hippocampal dynamics at the microcircuit level in ethologically relevant social behaviors, specifically regarding hierarchical behaviors.
