Bio
Elshafie Ibrahim Elshafie, PhD (Malaysia), MTAH (Sudan), and Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (Sudan) is a parasitologist with a protozoa focus. In his 16 years of research and teaching career, he has been working as an assistant professor at Veterinary Research Institute (VRI), the central reference lab for veterinary research in Sudan since 2005. During his work in VRI, he conducted research focusing on ticks, tick-borne diseases, trypanosomiasis, and other parasitic pathogens. He also showed a passion for epidemiological studies and biostatistical analyses, therefore he established a good connection with other researchers in related fields of animal diseases. Elshafie worked at Al-Mergeb University (Libya, 2013-2016) in the department of medical parasitology at the Faculty of Medicine. During his service at the medical college, he gained teaching skills and knowledge regarding medical parasitology and zoonotic diseases. Currently, Elshafie is working as an assistant professor at the department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, College of Agricultural & Marine Sciences, Sultan Qaboos University. He taught different veterinary courses related to animal health and diseases. He is conducting some community services, such as workshops, public lectures, and disease surveys. Elshafie has some publications in peer-reviewed and national journals. In addition, he participated in local and global scientific conferences. His major interest includes protozoology, epidemiology, biostatistics, and molecular biology.
