Bio
During my PhD-program (KU Leuven, Belgium), I studied how natural stressors and chemical pollution affect aquatic wildlife such as fish and small crustaceans. As part of this work, I aimed at improving ecotoxicological assessment of chemicals to better predict and mitigate our impact on the environment.
After obtaining my PhD-degree, I studied the cultivation and use of microalgae in a circular economy context (Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, Belgium) to boost our sustainable development.
I was also active as a postdoctoral researcher at TRANSfarm, the pilot farm of KU Leuven, where I led the development of a new, state-of-the-art aquaculture research facility. I am still associated as a voluntary research assistant to continue these activities.
Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher at Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and guest researcher at Stockholm University (Sweden), where I study how emerging forms of pollution can affect aquatic wildlife, using a combination of lab and field approaches.
