Career Trajectory
Bio
I was born in the family six and went through primary and secondary school. I completed my matric with a Bachelor admission requirements and enrolled for BSc at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. After completing honors degree, I continued with postgraduate studies at Nelson Mandela University (NMU). At NMU, I studied MSc and PhD in Physics and my focus was solar Photovoltaic research. I received National Research Foundation (NRF) Scare-skills scholarship for my studies at NMU. With the help of NRF scholarship, I attended several local and international conferences where I presented my research work. It can be mentioned that, I won two awards for best presentation at two local conferences in 2004 and 2009. My MSc and PhD work produced two articles published in peer-reviewed international journals. After obtaining PhD degree in 2010, I remained at NMMU’s Center for Energy Research (CER) for post-doctoral work, for 1 year. At the end of that year, I presented my post-doctoral research findings at the energy workshop organized by the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies (CRSES).
I am currently a senior lecturer at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) physics department. I started working at TUT as a part-time lecturer between 2013 and 2014 followed by permanent lecturer position betwee August 2014 and April 2018 at the same institution. I help the department of physics with curriculum development to establish advance and postgraduate diploma programs in Industrial Physics. My involvement includes creating a module curriculum for postgraduate diploma. In addition, I am the coordinator for the physics department student mentorship program, and also plays a role in the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) selection criteria for new student admissions. I attends research related workshops organized by the university in order to help enhance my research skills and gain access to research potential in the renewable energy industry. I believe demonstrates ability to work with variety of partners and stakeholders. Skilled at learning and applying new information in a new environment. I am a member of the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) as a professional scientist.
