Edward L. Nelson

Edward M. Nelson received the B.A. degree in physics from Hamilton College, Clinton, NY, USA, in 2001, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY, USA, in 2009, working under the supervision of L. J. Rothberg, where he studied biomolecule/nanoparticle interactions. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Research Associate with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN, USA. His primary research focus is to investigate the interaction between biological molecules, such as DNA and proteins, and synthetic materials using single molecule atomic force spectroscopy, optical tweezers, and electron microscopy, in order to understand the limitations of next generation sequencing technology.
