Bio
Eugeny Kenig studied applied mathematics in Moscow and received his PhD degree in 1985 at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow (Topic: "Rectification and absorption of multicomponent mixtures"). From 1994 till 1995 he was an Alexander von Humboldt fellow at the University of Dortmund. Subsequently, he worked as a scientist at the Universities of Dortmund and Essen as well as at the chemical company BASF in Ludwigshafen. In 1999 he accomplished his habilitation in Dortmund and was appointed to an associated professor (Privatdozent). In 2006 he received an adjunct professor title. Before coming to Paderborn he declined the full professor positions offers of the Technical University of Cottbus (C4) in 2004 and of the University of Karlsruhe (TH) (W3) in 2008. Since July 2008, he has been heading the Fluid Process Engineering (Fluidverfahrenstechnik).
Prof. Kenig put forward the concept of complementary modelling, which is based on an efficient combination of approaches with different detailisation degrees. He is active in several research areas covering (reactive) separations, heat exchangers, CFD and microseparation. Prof. Kenig is one of the founders of the Competence Center for Sustainable Energy Technology at the University of Paderborn and is currently the chairman of its management board.
