Bio
Enzo Rizzo is Associated Professor at University of Ferrara, and his main topic is on Applied Geophysics. He was graduated in Geological Sciences (1999) and obtained a PhD on Methods and Technologies for Environmental Monitoring (2003) at the Engineering School of University of Basilicata. Until 2019, he was Researcher at National Research Council (Institute of Methodology and Environmental Analysis) where he is still the scientific head of the Hydrogeosite Laboratory, where he coordinates research activities on the application and development of applied geophysics techniques in geology, hydrogeology, environment, engineering and archaeology. In particular, he works on electric and electromagnetic prospecting techniques both in the near surface application and deep investigations. He has a large experience on field work and processing of geophysical data. His research activities are carried out in the context of international and national research projects. He is a reviewer of scientific articles in various international journals and all his research have been presented in over 230 publications (https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0716-4318), including peer review international journals (n.81), numerous international conferences (n.177) and book chapters (n.9).
MAIN RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
- Shallow surface geophysical techniques (electrical resistivity tomography, ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic, self-potential, active and passive seismic) for geological and hydrogeological characterization and monitoring of the subsoil on contaminated zone, landslide area, geological and fault system, volcano, sea water intrusion
- Deep surface geoelectrical method (Deep Electrical Resistivity Tomography) for geological and hydrogeological characterizations of geothermal area, sedimentary basin, volcanic area, seismological area
- Monitoring Geoelectrical technique (vertical and horizontal borehole, continuous geoelectrical survey) for high resolution of the subsoil
- Engineering and Hydrogeophysical applications
- Archaeo-geophysical tecniques for buried remains, ancient walls, church pavements, ecc. (GPR, Geomagnetic, EM,)
