He did his doctoral work at MSE and at Rutgers University, Piscataway, NJ (1994–1999), where he was also a NATO-AGARD A1 Fellow 1994–1995 His area of expertise includes nanoscale phenomena in nonlinear ferroic oxides, with special emphasis on processing-property relations in strain and defect modulated thin films and nanoparticles of functional oxides. He has published more than 55 articles, authored five invited review articles and book chapters, and delivered 18 invited talks. He is the co-editor and contributing author of the book Piezoelectric and Acoustic Materials for Transducer Applications (2008). Koray is currently serving the IEEE-UFFC as the Chair of the Education Committee of the AdCom, the UFFC Society Liaison to the IEEE Education Activity Board, and as a peer reviewer of the IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control.
