Evison Kapangaziwiri is a surface water hydrologist with over 25 years’ professional experience in education, diverse aspects of catchment hydrology in particular hydrological and systems modeling, uncertainty analysis in water resources assessments and integrated water resources management, including catchment-scale hydrology, regional application of hydrological models, parameter estimation, land use and climate change impacts on hydrology, and hydrological science. He is also competent in operational hydrology including the acquisition, processing, analysis and archiving of hydrological data.
He developed and tested principles and techniques for a priori parameter estimation procedures for hydrological models, focusing on the Pitman monthly rainfall-runoff model. His work focussed on the development of a model application and evaluation framework for southern Africa that explicitly accounts for the uncertainties related to the parameter estimation methods.
He has worked on several international projects on hydrology and water resources management in mostly southern and central Africa. He has worked on projects in eastern and western Africa and the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Kapangaziwiri is a member of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) and Water Institute of Southern Africa (WISA). His expertise includes:
