Bio
Prof Eva Dimitriadis has been a Professor in Reproductive Biology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Melbourne since 2018, as well as being the Co-Head of the Gynaecology Research Centre at the Royal Women's Hospital.
She has been a National Health and Medical Research Council Senior Research Fellow since 2017 and also a Fellow for the Society of Reproductive Biology.
Prof Dimitriadis specialises in infertility and pregnancy disorders associated with placental insufficiency and endometrial cancer, with a focus on endometrial receptivity, establishment of pregnancy embryo-endometrial communication and trophoblast-endometrial interactions, and cell adhesion and invasion.
Outputs of research have seen Prof Dimitriadis authoring over 100 peer-reviewed publications and her work has featured in several editorials in journals including Science, PNAS, BOR and EbioMedicine.
From 2010 to 2021, scholarly output was 84 publications including 66 articles, 1 editorial, 16 reviews and 1 book chapter.
With an academic background of undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy (University of Dublin, Trinity College, Ireland) and a Bachelor of Science (La Trobe University, Australia), Prof Dimitriadis has worked in other prestigious institutions such as the Department of Molecular Translational Sciences (Monash University, Australia). Prof Dimitriadis is also responsible for large grant funded research projects, including the Trevor B Kilvington Bequest Scheme.
Other notable projects include reproducibility of three-dimensional ultrasound of the junctional zone in myometrial pathology and their correlation with pregnancy rates (Monash IVF). Finding the right treatment for repeated implantation failure (Rebecca Cooper Medical Research Foundation) and Facilitation endometrial receptivity to improve pregnancy outcomes and Mechanistic and Translational studies in female reproductive health (NHMRC Grants).
