Bio
Dr Dzmitry Krupchanka, graduated with honor from Belarusian State Medical University with a specialization in psychiatry, psychotherapy and addiction medicine in 2008. After years of clinical practice and defending PhD theses in the area of clinical psychiatry in 2014, he continue education and received a MSc degree in Global Mental Health with honor at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and King's College London.
In 2015-2018 Dr Krupchanka was employed as a senior researcher at the Department of Social Psychiatry, National Institute of Mental Health (Prague, Czech Republic) with a focus on the topic of mental health and mental health reforms in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. Since 2017 he has been employed as a consultant and recently as a Medical Officer at Management of Substance Abuse Unit, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, World Health Organization (Geneva, Switzerland).
Main areas of professional interests include global mental health, advocacy and policy-making in area of substance use and substance use disorders, mental health and mental health reforms in Central and Eastern Europe and post-communist countries, mental health stigma and discrimination, international legislation and human rights in mental health, mortality associated with mental disorders, insight and compliance in patients with psychosis, workforce development and training needs in the area of addiction medicine.
