Bio
The main activity of Dr. Dulce Belo in the last years has been the design, synthesis and characterization of new molecular materials. Her interests have been focused in the preparation of transition metal complexes, especially on those based on dithiothiophene ligands, and their use as building blocks for new molecular conductors and magnets. She was also interested on the physical studies of electrical and magnetic properties of molecular materials, and particularly involved, in the characterization by single crystal X-ray diffraction as a crucial tool for the understanding of the physical properties and for the crystal engineering of these materials. Among these new thiophenic dithiolenes , special dedication has been given to the engineering and preparation of Single Component Molecular Metals (SCMM). Currently she is involved in the pioneering experiences to process this new SCMM as active components for electronic devices, the so-called molecular electronics.
Since February 2017 she integrates the Executive Commission of C2TN. Ever since 2008 D. Belo is responsible for the management of the Solid State Group (SSG) synthesis laboratory at C2TN. She is the Coordinator of C2TN’s Outreach Group (GO), created in the beginning of 2018;
