Career Trajectory
Bio
Dr Donald Wlodkowic is an Associate Professor in Cell Biology and Toxicology. He is a head of the Neurotox Laboratory at the School of Science (Biosciences), RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. The Neurotox Laboratory is a $1M state-of-the-art and fully integrated interdisciplinary research facility with a portfolio of innovative research in aquatic ecotoxicology, behavioural ecotoxicology, eco-neurotoxicology and water quality assessment including real-time, early-warning biomonitoring systems.
A/Prof Wlodkowic is one of Australia’s leading experts in experimental behavioural ecotoxicology and neurotoxicology with interests spanning effects of industrial pollutants, neurotoxins and neuroactive drugs on central nervous systems. A highly innovative emphasis of his research is focused on chemical modulation of innate behavioural and cognitive (learning and memory retrieval) functions as well as development of state-of-the-art innovations in high-throughput analysis of animal behaviour for predictive neurotoxicology and environmental risk assessment.
Current research interests:
- Aquatic Toxicology
- Ecotoxicology
- Behavioural Ecotoxicology
- Neurotoxicology
- Developemntal Neurotoxicology
- Chemical Risk Assessment
- Water Quality Sensing
- Automation of toxicology bioassays incl. cell-based assays, small model organism biotests, neuro-behavioural biotests
