Bio
Dr. Stein’s laboratory now studies the actions of progesterone and its
metabolites in pediatric, adult and aged models of TBI and stroke. This research has led
to two independent Phase II clinical trials testing progesterone for moderate to severe
traumatic brain injury and now an NIH-sponsored, nationwide Phase III clinical trial. His
current research is supported by the NIH and private philanthropy. Dr. Stein is the author
of 350 articles, book chapters, reviews and papers on the subject of recovery from brain
injury. He has also authored or edited 16 books on the topic and has lectured at
institutions around the world. He past President of the International Brain Injury
Association, a former Fulbright Scholar and a recipient of a AAAS Congressional
Science and Engineering Fellowship 。
