Bio
Donald J. Orth is the Thomas H. Jones Professor in the Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Don attended Eastern Illinois University (BS), and Oklahoma State University (MS and PhD). He is a Life Member of the American Fisheries Society, and a Certified Fisheries Professional, and Fellow of the American Fisheries Society, American Institute of Fisheries Research Biologists, and the Virginia Natural Resources Leadership Institute. In addition to over 100 popular writings, Don has published over 200 technical works on fish, fisheries, and riverine management. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to conservation (Conservation Award from the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Making a Difference Award from the Instream Flow Council) and teaching. Don and his students post popular articles on vtichthyology.blogspot.com and chesapeakecatfish.com
