个人简介
I started my research career as a Research Fellow at the Department of Chemistry, University of Kalyani in 2009 in the project “Biomarkers of arsenic exposure and assessment of risks of arsenic in drinking water in Nadia District, West Bengal, India”. This was a collaborative research project with Department of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, University of Michigan, USA. In 2010, I was awarded European Union’s Erasmus Mundus Doctoral scholarship and joined to the Department of Land and Water Resources Engineering, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden as a PhD Student. In PhD study my research was focused to “Assessment of arsenic exposure risk from drinking water, rice and other dietary components to the population in arsenic affected villages of West Bengal”. In addition, I was partly involved in another project, which was focused to investigation of arsenic Geochemistry and targeting safe aquifers for drinking water supply in an arsenic affected region of Bengal Basin. I completed my PhD on 25th September 2013. After PhD, I had completed one year (February 2014 – January 2015) Postdoctoral Research at the Department of Geological Sciences, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada. This postdoctoral research was focused on “Control of iron secondary minerals on trace metals/metalloids mobilization in uranium mining tailings management facility”. Currently, I am doing postdoctoral research at the Environmental Geochemistry Group, University of Bayreuth, Germany since July 2015. This research is focused on “Thioarsenates toxicity to model plant Arabidopsis”.
Throughout my study and research I have gained interdisciplinary knowledge on natural and anthropogenic contaminant transport at the interface of water - soil(sediment) - plant - food chain system and exposure risk assessment. I have also developed skills on handling different advanced analytical instruments, including conducting XAS analysis with synchrotron light source and performing geochemical modeling with Visual MINTEQ and PHREEQC. In my future research I want to investigate trace elements biogeochemistry in the agricultural field and contaminants transport at the interfaces of water-soil-crops-food-human systems.
