个人简介
Diogo Neto (34-year-old) received the PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Coimbra. The developed research work received the prize “Best PhD Thesis on Computational Mechanics 2014” awarded by the Portuguese Association of Theoretical, Applied and Computational Mechanics. Currently, he is a researcher at the Centre for Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Processes, as well as Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Coimbra. Since his PhD, he has been working in the field of computational solid mechanics, aiming the improvement and optimization of classical and recent manufacturing processes using numerical simulation. Lately, he extended the area of expertise to also cover the mechanical behaviour of cracked components.
Several numerical models and algorithms developed over the last years have been implemented by him in the in-house finite element code DD3IMP. Hence, the research work is accessible to graduated students and researchers in an effective way, allowing the engagement of young researchers. Since the validation of the developed numerical models requires well-designed and highly controlled experimental tests, several national and international collaborations have been successfully established. Thus, he has been participating in several national and international research projects, some of them in the field of metal additive manufacturing (H2020 Integradde). Moreover, up to now, he was the coordinator of 2 national research projects financed by FCT. In the framework of these research projects, he is currently the supervisor of 2 PhD students, both working in the field of metal additive manufacturing modelling. Additionally, in the last 5 years, he supervised more than 20 master theses in mechanical engineering (finished and ongoing).
