从事土木工程教学和科研工作,主持国家级与省部级项目各4项,参与各级项目十余项,发表科研论文200余篇,其中SCI收录论文100余篇,被引1600余次,高水平中文论文60余篇,中文论文被引2500余次,出版专著2本,主编特刊书1本,授权国家发明专利12项,获得软件著作权3项,参编行业标准2部,地方标准3部,主持行业协会科技一等奖2项,参与省级科技进步一等奖2项(2/8),培养博士后1人,博士11人,硕士46人,获省优秀博士论文指导奖1次,省优秀硕士论文指导奖2次。原创性“损伤比强度理论”得到央媒科学网/中国日报网/人民网/光明网/人民论坛网和省媒新湖南客户端等媒体科普宣传报道,阅读量超100万次。受邀在“2022 Engineering Structures亚太区系列学术论坛”开展学术报告——混凝土与岩石损伤比强度理论及应用。
