Bio
I am an enthusiastic and resourceful young scientist with proven track record of generating qualified scientific production. In 2008, I obtained my professional degree in Biochemistry from Universidad Nacional del Sur (Argentina), and I joined Laboratory of Lipids and atherosclerosis at University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) for my Ph.D., which I obtained in 2013. Later, between 2013 and 2016, I was a postdoctoral fellow at University of Buenos Aires, awarded by CONICET (Argentina). Since 2017, I am a postdoctoral fellow at Lipoprotein Metabolism Laboratory at NHLBI-NIH (USA). Thus, I have over 12 years of experience in biomedical research in the field of lipoprotein metabolism and atherosclerosis, with continuous scientific contributions in the field.
In the beginning of my career, my research was focused on lipoprotein alterations in insulin-resistance, studying metabolic syndrome patients and animal models. My current research is focused on the discovery on novel genes involved in cellular uptake of LDL, leading to the discovery of novel actors in the regulation of LDL endocytosis in liver cells. Therefore, my experience covers different aspects of research, from clinical research to basic science and molecular biology, including laboratory animal handling, diet interventions, in vivo kinetic analysis of lipoprotein secretion, CRISPR/Cas9, among others.
I am a highly motivated, self-organized and hard-working researcher, that is capable of accomplishing complex projects, with excellent writing and communication skills. My long-term plan is to become an independent investigator to contribute with my work to the understanding of lipoprotein metabolism and cardiometabolic disease. Besides my scientific training, since 2004, I have been developing university teaching activities.
