Bio
Dr. Diego R. Faria is a Reader (Associate Professor) in Robotics and Adaptive Systems at the School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield, UK. From July 2016 to April 2022 he was a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at Aston University, Birmingham, UK. So far, Dr Diego R. Faria has coordinated scientific projects in partnerships with several European universities and UK companies, holding over £3M funded by UK national funding agencies (EPSRC, the Royal Society, Newton Fund and Innovate-UK) and other EU agencies. The projects are related to Cognitive Robotics (Social Robotics, Dexterous Manipulation), Brain-Computer Interfaces, Artificial Perception, A.I. and Machine learning applied to other contexts, such as autonomous vehicles and adaptive intelligent systems. From 2014 to 2016, he was a Post-Doc fellow at the Institute Of Systems and Robotics, University of Coimbra, Portugal, where he collaborated on several projects funded by the European Commission and the Portuguese government in the areas of Robotics & Assistive Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal in 2014. He holds a Masters in Computer Science from the Federal University of Paraná- UFPR (2005). Graduated in Data Computing Technology (2001) and a Specialisation (PGDip) in Computer Science from the State University of Londrina - UEL (2002). His research areas are: A.I. & Cognitive Robotics, Assistive Technology, Brain-Computer Interfaces and Applied Machine Learning.
