Bio
Diego Cirio received the M.Sc. degree (1999) and Ph.D. degree (2003) in Electrical Engineering from University of Genoa, Italy. He leads the “Grid Development and Security” Research Group at “Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico - RSE S.p.A.” (Milano, Italy). He has been active in EU (iTESLA, BEST PATHS, AFTER, TWENTIES, OMASES) and national research projects on power system security, adequacy, risk, resilience, HVDC, as well as flexibility and ancillary services provided by new resources. He coordinated a project for the Italian TSO Terna for the evaluation of the flexibility potential of distributed appliances (2019-2021). He is member of CIGRE WG C4.47 “Power system resilience” and CIGRE JWG C2/C4.41 “Impact of High Penetration of Inverter-based Generation on System Inertia of networks”. He contributed to CIGRE and IEEE technical reports. He acted as co-Operating Agent of the IEA Implementing Agreement ENARD Annex IV “Transmission systems” and as task leader in IEA ISGAN Annex 6 “T&D system issues”. He has been IEEE Senior Member since 2013.
