个人简介
Yue Deng is an ambitious and dedicated Psychology student currently pursuing her Bachelor's degree at King’s College London. Her passion for the subject was sparked during her secondary school years, where the intricate mechanisms of the human mind and its effects on daily life captured her curiosity. This fascination transformed her into a voracious learner, who revels in dissecting theories, developing insights, and contributing enthusiastically to scholarly discussions.
Her journey into the realm of psychology was greatly influenced by Professor Robert Plomin. His extensive work in behavioural genetics ignited in her a profound curiosity about the interplay between genetic and environmental influences on individual differences in behaviour. This inspiration is not just guiding her current academic and research interests, but also shaping her future academic pursuits.
Beyond her coursework, Yue has actively engaged in multiple research initiatives. During a stint as a visiting student at the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Science, she collaborated on an addiction study. This experience allowed her to conduct structured interviews, administer IQ and cognitive abilities tests, and perform gene tests from blood samples in the laboratory.
Currently, Yue is working on a comprehensive review about sleep spindles, aiming to broaden her understanding of how sleep impacts cognitive processes and mental health.
In addition to her academic endeavours, Yue volunteers at a perinatal mental health facility based in London. In this role, she provides much-needed support to patients and contributes to writing web content, enhancing awareness around perinatal mental health.
Yue's ambition doesn't stop at her undergraduate degree. She intends to continue her education and pursue a doctorate with a keen focus on behavioural genetics, an interest that was inspired by Professor Plomin's work. Her ultimate goal is to enhance the understanding of cognitive processes and their genetic and environmental influences on individual behaviour. Yue hopes that these insights can be applied to improve educational and therapeutic practices.
