His research expertise is in the fields of Learning Technologies and Digital Learning, demonstrating a significant scientific impact as he is listed among the top 20 researchers globally in the field of Learning Technologies based on Google Scholar citations (February 2023). He is the co-author of 345 articles in scientific books, journals and conferences, and the editor of 19 books (all published by Springer), 30 special issues and 45 international conference proceedings, with more than 8100 citations and h-index 42 as listed in Scholar Google (February 2023).
