Bio
Béla was employed as a reptile keeper/biologist at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C. for 35 years. During that time he taught herpetology courses for the USDA Graduate School, consulted on snakebite and venomous snake recognition, and conducted seminars for area naturalists on captive reptile care. Since 2007 Béla has been an Adult Program Docent with the Education Department at the National Gallery of Art – a position which has led him to explore the interstices between art and herpetology.
