Career Trajectory
Bio
David Novotny received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado, in 1990, and the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado, in 1996. He joined the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Electromagnetics Division. He has worked on EMC facility evaluations using broadband synthetic time-domain analysis, which has been used to evaluate EM shielding of many facilities and airframes, including E-3, an E-10 prototype configuration, several commercial aircraft, and the Space Shuttle Endeavour. Since 2000, he has been working in antenna metrology, designing systems and methods for accurate measurements of antenna parameters. He was a part of teams that designed speciality systems to exercise and exploit electronic identity and travel documents, image EM facilities for non-ideal reflections, generate standard EM fields for device testing, and using robots to perform complex EM and antenna measurements.
