His research looks at the performance and design of high-performance computer systems and software. Current research topics include: computer architecture, graphics processing units, fast and efficient AI, microarchitectural security, side-channel analysis, reliability, virtualization, workload characterization, memory hierarchy design, benchmarking and software testing. He frequently provides tutorials on the subjects of GPU optimization and execution driven simulation.
Prof. Kaeli is a Fellow of the IEEE and a Distinguished Scientist of the ACM. He presently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of ACM Transactions on Computer Architecture and Code Optimization. He serves an elected member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Computer Architecture. He also serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems and the Elsevier Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing. He recently served as a Member-at-Large for ACM SIGMicro, and on CRA's Computing Community Consortium for 3 years. Previously, he has served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Computers and and IEEE Computer Architecture Letters. He is a member of the Eta Kappa Nu honor society.
