个人简介
Areas of Interest
Dr. Kohrman is interested in defining genes that are required for development and function of the auditory and vestibular systems, the interactions between these genes and the regulatory programs that control their expression. His lab uses both forward and reverse genetic approaches in the mouse, as well as studies in cultured cells, to identify and investigate critical genes. These studies provide insight into the genetic basis of human hearing loss and the molecular mechanisms that build and maintain hearing and balance.
Using small molecule agonists and genetic models, the Kohrman Laboratory is also investigating stress response pathways that protect the auditory system from damage due to noise and ototoxic drugs. This work will accelerate the development of clinical interventions useful for prevention and treatment of hearing loss in humans.
