个人简介
INTERESTS
cochlear implant, acoustic neuroma, music perception with cochlear implants, health services research, skull base surgery, cost effectiveness research
RESEARCH SUMMARY
I work with colleagues in neurosurgery as part of a multidisciplinary team to treat patients with acoustic neuroma and skull base tumors using the retrosigmoid, middle fossa, and translabyrinthine surgical approaches. I believe a team model is critical for achieving excellent outcomes in the treatment of complex tumors of the skull base. I am also certified to perform stereotactic radiosurgery, also known as Gamma Knife® surgery.
Much of my research is related to outcomes of cochlear implantation in special populations and outcomes of acoustic neuroma in patients with neurofibromatosis type 2. I have also worked on projects related to cochlear implant electrode design.
I have a particular research interest in understanding and improving how music is perceived through a cochlear implant signal, and I collaborate with a number of other researchers on this topic.
I also have a background in health services research and in improving the efficiency and quality of health care delivery.
