个人简介
Daniel Laucirica received a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2013 from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. After graduating, he worked as a research staff member of the Estes Laboratory in the Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. His work assessed how human milk oligosaccharides modulate infectivity of human rotavirus. He also contributed to studies assessing host glycan recognition among human rotaviruses, seroresponses in rotavirus vaccinated children, and studies of rotavirus infection in human intestinal enteroids. In 2018 he joined the Airway Epithelial Research group at Telethon Kids Institute in Perth, Western Australia, as a PhD student enrolled through the University of Western Australia. His project examined coordinated immune responses of the early life CF airway epithelium and recruited neutrophils in response to respiratory pathogens. He completed his PhD in 2022, awarded a pass with no need for corrections or revisions by his thesis examiners. Currently he works as a post-doctoral researcher at Telethon Kids Institute, where he is studying the immune-modulatory capacity of phage therapy and its application as an airway anti-inflammatory therapeutic in cystic fibrosis and other chronic lung diseases.
