Dr Daniel Chu obtained his PhD in Virology from the University of Hong Kong in 2013. His PhD thesis focused on viruses at the transmission interface between humans and other animals. His works during PhD have significantly contributed to the knowledge on the diversity of coronaviruses and astroviruses in mammalian and avian hosts, and to our understanding on the ecology and evolution of these viruses in humans and in nature. His PhD study has generated 5 journal publications and his thesis has been ranged within top 10% by an external examiner.
