个人简介
Dr. García obtained his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Oviedo in 2006 (Premio Extraordinario Doctorado) under the supervision of Prof. M.A. Ruiz and funded by an FPU fellowship from the Ministry of Education. During his PhD he did a short research stay in the University of Barcelona under the supervision of Prof. S. Alvarez. Then he secured funding for a three-year postdoctoral stay in the University of Bath under the supervision of Prof. M.G. Davidson, first as Clarín fellow from the Principado de Asturias Government (1yr and 2 months), then followed by a Marie-Curie Fellowship (2yr). During his time at Bath, he made short research stays at the group of Prof. R.E. Mulvey at Strathclyde University and at the Laue-Langevin Institut (synchrotron facility). In 2011 he returned to the group of Prof. Ruiz awarded with a reintegration contract from the Asturias Government and with an European Reintegration Grant (ERG), followed by different research assistant contracts and one year unemployed (2019). In 2017, Dr. García secured his first academic position as fixed-term substitution teacher at the University of Oviedo (17/18), a position also obtained for the academic years 19/20 and 20/21. Finally, in July 2021 he was appointed as Profesor Ayudante Doctor at the University of Oviedo and in january 2023 he promoted to Profesor Contratado Doctor.
During his entire career, has exhibited a great initiative and ability to work independently, as proven by the wide variety of subjects covered by his research activities and readiness to combine approaches. This has allowed him to initiate new independent research lines in transition metal catalyzed dehydrogenation of amine-borane adducts, the synthesis and chemical studies of heterometallic complexes, as well as in the theoretical calculation of organometallic compounds and reaction mechanisms. He has stablished independently ongoing research collaborations with national research groups that already led to the publication of more eight papers, including three recent communications at Chem. Commun. Dr. García has an H-index of 20 (Web of Science 23/11/2022) and he has already attained national and international relevance as researcher being invited as: 1) speaker at a conference, 2) active reviewer for journals of the RSC, ACS, Elsevier and Wiley-VCH, 3) evaluator for grant proposals of the National Science Centre of Poland and, 4) guest editor for a special issue on heterometallic compounds for the OA journal Inorganics. He has already obtained the accreditation from ANECA to the figure “Profesor Titular” and the I3-accreditation. He has supervised the work of different students in the research groups he has worked on, including the supervision two of PhD thesis and eleven Master´s Degree Final Projects.
Overall, Dr. García has been grant-sponsored through his entire career by public regional, national and international funding bodies (1 undergraduate, 1 postgraduate and 3 postdoctoral fellowships; 3 National and 2 European). So far, his research work has given rise to 94 research articles plus two reviews (one of them invited by the editor), all of them published in prestigious peer-reviewed international journals, including 37 papers as corresponding author and 5 more as only corresponding author. All these articles were published in high impact factor international journals (81 in Q1, 14 in Q2 and 1 preprint at ChemRxiv) in their respective fields: “Multidisciplinary” or “Inorganic & Nuclear” Chemistry, with an average IF of 4.25 and receiving more than 1,100 citations. His work was presented in major national and international conferences (43 poster presentations), including 5 oral presentations (3 at international conferences and 1 of them upon invitation). He has participated actively in 18 competitive research projects funded by national and international funding agencies and additionally in three research contracts with industrial partners (Fertiberia, MAXAM,…).
