Bio
Dr. Dan Xie currently holds the position of Senior Principal Scientist at Braskem's Renewable Innovation Center, located in the Greater Boston area, Massachusetts, USA. He also serves as the Co-chairperson of the International Zeolite Association Structure Commission. He received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from ETH Zurich in Switzerland, where he was awarded the 2011 ETH Medal for his thesis work on methodology development of polycrystalline structure determination.
During his 11-year tenure as a Staff Scientist and R&D Project Manager at Chevron's Research Center in the San Francisco Bay Area in California, Dr. Xie led and managed numerous core R&D projects focused on catalytic materials invention and innovation for refinery downstream and petrochemical applications.
Dr. Xie has co-authored ~50 articles from scientific journals such as Science, Nature Materials, Journal of American Chemical Society and Angewandte Chemie. Furthermore, he has made significant contributions as a co-inventor on ~100 technology patent applications, some of which have been successfully commercialized and integrated into specific industrial processes worldwide. He was named as one of the 2021 Class of Influential Researchers by American Chemical Society, Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research.
Currently, Dr Xie's research focuses on catalyst R&D and catalytic process innovations for renewable chemical production, green hydrocarbon synthesis, and initiatives aimed at reducing carbon footprints to enhance environmental sustainability.
