Bio
Dan Cornford received the Ph.D. degree from Birmingham University,
Birmingham, U.K., in 1996.
Since 1996, he has worked on various aspects of the probabilistic modeling of geophysical systems, including work on
data assimilation and how to best combine our knowledge of physical laws with partial information on unmodeled processes
and incomplete observation. He is currently a Reader in computer science with Aston University, Birmingham, U.K., and a
Director of the Integrated Geochemical Interpretation Ltd., Devon, U.K. His research interests include machine learning
and statistics, including visualization, learning from data, and communication of uncertainty.
