个人简介
Damian Gruszka (PhD, DSc) holds position of Associate Professor at the Institute of Biology, Biotechnology and Environmental Protection, Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. He conducts research in plant genetics and physiology. Projects in which he has been involved for the last several years encompass identification of genes encoding enzymes involved in brassinosteroid (BR) biosynthesis and signaling in barley. Functional analysis of these genes is performed through isolation and characterization of barley mutants defective in the brassinosteroid metabolism and showing reduced plant height. Physiological reaction of the semi-dwarf barley BR mutants, deficient in the brassinosteroid biosynthesis or signaling, to drought stress and other environmental stresses is also analyzed. The research is conducted in cooperation with several European institutions.
