Daniel Spemann leads the inter-departmental unit "Tools" at the Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering (IOM). Daniel and his group members develop and apply ion beam sources, related components and diagnostic tools for both terrestrial and extraterrestrial applications like ion beam etching and electric propulsion, respectively. Furthermore, they work on deterministic ion implantation for applications in quantum technologies.
