Bio
Don Baer is a Laboratory Fellow emeritus at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). He has specialized in the use of surface sensitive techniques to study surface and interphase reactions and material surface chemistry. Along with many collaborators he has used a variety of surface sensitive methods to examine basic and applied problems. A current focus of research activity deals with the challenges that nanoparticles present to appropriate characterization due to their sensitivity to time, environmental conditions, probe damage and contamination. His research has also involved studies related to oxide and mineral surfaces and stress corrosion cracking of metals.
