Bio
Daniel joined KCL in December 2020 to work on RECOLLECT 2, a five-year research programme funded by the NIHR, which explores the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of Recovery Colleges across England. Prior to this, Daniel worked at the Evidence Based Practice Unit, part of University College London, and the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families. During this time, he was Trials Manager on the Education for Wellbeing Programme, two large scale national RCTs exploring the effectiveness of school-based interventions to improve mental health and wellbeing. He completed his PhD in 2018 at University College London where he developed and piloted decision aids to facilitate shared decision making between young people, their parents, and clinicians. These have since been endorsed by NICE.
Daniel has interests in a) social and community mental health, and b) developing safe care in mental health. Currently, he holds PI grants for:
Developing social prescribing for children and young people (funded by Emerging Minds network)
Evaluating ‘Level Up’ an intervention aimed stopping young people entering crime (funded by the Youth Endowment Fund)
Exploring the sustainability of community assets (funded by the MARCH network)
He is also chairing a special research interest group, funded by Emerging Minds, to develop safe care in youth mental health.
