Bio
Dr Dick Chan, PhD is a Research Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine & Pharmacology, University of Western Australia in Perth. He has a strong research interest in the pathophysiology of lipid disorders and the role of interventions on lipoprotein metabolism and other related cardiovascular risk factors such as obesity, insulin resistance, and proinflammatory state. He has published more than 100 research papers. In 2010, Dr Chan was granted a fellowship status from The Royal College of Pathologists, UK on the basis of published work. Dr Chan has more than 20 years of laboratory experience in lipoprotein research. He has a strong background in developing biomedical analytical techniques such as ultracentrifugation, electrophoresis, GCMS, HPLC, RIA, ELISA and tissue cultures. He has been actively involved in the development of many new methodologies with stable isotope and biochemical techniques to examine the pathophysiology of lipid and lipoprotein metabolism.
