个人简介
I earned my degree in Agricultural Engineering in 2006 from the University of Extremadura (UEX) and my PhD in Agronomy in March 2010 from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). I conducted my thesis work at the Crop Protection department, (ICA-CSIC); my thesis was entitled “Precision Agriculture Technologies to Asses Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers Populations in Maize Crops”. The major aims of this research program were to develop more sustainable systems for herbicide application and to study both, the economic and the environmental benefits associated to these systems and the developing of new technologies for weed mapping. During this period, I was trained to assess some of the implications of the use of Precision Agriculture on weeds and weed management, conducting extensive field work and various statistical methods to analyze the data. My supervisor, Dr. César Fernández-Quintanilla, is a reputed researcher in agriculture with a lot of experience in weed ecology and weed management. The skills acquired during this stage were complemented with short-term stays conducted at different recognized research centres (University of Hohenheim, Germany, and University of Copenhagen,
Denmark). From March 2010, I wasworking as a postdoctoral researcher in the Crop Protection department (ICACSIC)on sensing technologies and biology of Sorghum halepense, one of the most troublesome weeds
in maize crops. In January 2012 I worked for two year in Hohenheim University in robotics and sensing technologies for agriculture. In 2014 I came back to Spain to work as a postdoctoral researcher in the Crop Protection department (ICA-CSIC) in computer vision for plant identification.
I consider myself a curious, dynamic and hard working person with high motivation for learning new things; I have a strong capacity to work with teams and to motivate my colleagues, but maintaining a rigorous work ethic. My research activities have led to publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals.
From the beginning of my research career I have not narrowed my scientific activities to a particular weed, crop, herbicide or machinery. My list of publication and patents cover different aspects of precision agriculture (weed demography, spatial-temporal population dynamics, weed management, weed mapping, pre-harvest techniques, artificial vision, sensing technologies...) and is a good example of my broad research interests and expertise.
