She is both an academic and an interventional cardiologist, with a particular interest in thrombosis. She is actively engaged in clinical research, with a particular emphasis on identifying patients at risk of coronary and cerebrovascular thrombosis using novel near-patient testing. Projects investigating patients with coronary disease (angina, heart attack), atrial fibrillation and those undergoing aortic valve replacement are underway, and other projects involve assessing treatment with various antithrombotic medications, aiming to provide "personalised" medicine to reduce thrombosis risk, whilst avoiding bleeding in at risk individuals.
She supervises a number of higher degree students working towards MD or PhD higher degrees. She was the catalyst for setting up the MSc in Cardiology and Stroke at the University of Hertfordshire, and leads on the Cardiology aspect of this course.
