Bio
I am a graduate with a Double Degree in Chemistry (2015) and Biochemistry (2017) by the University of Navarre (Pamplona). Nowadays, I am doing a multicentric Master in Advanced Immunology between the Universitat de Barcelona and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Barcelona).
I realized my interests in Oncology and Immunology as a consequence of doing several Internships in Dr. Kerry Chester group (Department of Oncology: Recombinant Antibody Therapeutics Group at UCL Cancer Institute, London) in the Summer of 2012 and 2016. In her group I generated 'phage display libraries to human immune checkpoint inhibitors' where I optimized my laboratory skills on several techniques, such as ELISA, Western Blot...
For my Chemistry final project (2015), I carried out the 'Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of New Selenodiazole Compounds Showing Cytotoxic and Antioxidant Activity in Prostate Cancer' under the guidance of Dr. Carmen SanMartín Grijalba (Director of the Department of Organic Chemistry at University of Navarre, Pamplona). The results obtained in this study were presented as a poster at the 2015 Frontiers in Medicinal Chemistry (Antwerp, Belgium) under the title 'Synthesis, Radical Scavenging Effects and Cytotoxic Activity Against Prostate Cancer Cells of Novel Selenoheterocyclic Compounds'.
In my Biochemistry final project (2017), I took part in the project 'Adoptive Immunotherapy of Cancer with Tumor-Infiltrating T Lymphocytes (ACT-TIL): Selection and Rejuvenescence of Tumor-Specific T Cells to Enhance their Therapeutic Effectiveness' (FIS: PI15/02027) under the direction of Dr. Sandra Hervás Stubbs (Department of Immunology and Immunotherapy: Therapeutic Immunomodulation at Centro de Investigación Médica Aplicada -CIMA-, Pamplona). In this project, I focused on the 'Genetic Engineering of TranscriptionalRegulatory Molecules to Improve the Antitumor Efficacy of Adoptively Transferred T Cells' in the wnt/β-catenin pathway.
Nowadays, I am doing my Master final project at Vall d ́hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO, Barcelona) in the Experimental Hematology group lead by Dr. Francesc Bosch. My research is focused on testing the 'Immunological effects of TAK659 in patients with hematological malignancies'.
My future goals are focused on the study of the effects of novel therapies over the course of hematological malignancies (specially CLL) to understand the interaction between tumor cells and the immune system.
