Bio
Craig R. Steinberg received the BSc. (Hons) degree in majoring in
meteorology and oceanography form Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia, in 1983. He has 30 years of experience as
a Physical Oceanographer undertaking research in multidisciplinary studies in the Australian Institute of Marine
Science (AIMS), Townsville, Qld., Australia. He leads the Oceanography and Shelf Processes Research Team within the
Sustainable Coastal Ecosystems and Industries in Tropical Australia Program, AIMS. He has a background in remote
sensing, applied oceanography and meteorology with significant expertise in conducting ocean observing across northern
tropical Australian coasts and regional seas from multiple platforms. A major role is the IMOS Australian National
Mooring Network Facility Leader and the operation of a satellite remote sensing ground station, both responsible for
delivering quality biogeochemical and physical time series to the research community, managers and industry.
