Bio
Colin K. L. Phoon received the B.A. degree in biophysics from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, USA, in 1985, the M.Phil. degree in pharmacology from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, U.K., in 1986, and the M.D. degree from the School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, in 1990.
He completed his clinical training at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, and the University of California at San Francisco, San Francisco, CA, USA, where he was also a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Cardiovascular Research Institute. He joined the NYU School of Medicine (NYUSoM), New York, NY, USA, as a Faculty Member, in 1996, where he is currently an Associate Professor with the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. He pioneered high-frequency ultrasound mouse cardiovascular imaging approaches, and in particular embryonic cardiovascular imaging, with Dr. Dan Turnbull at the Skirball Institute, NYUSoM, where he continues to collaborate actively with several investigators on small animal cardiovascular biology. His current research focuses on the role of cardiolipin in the developing heart.
