Bio
My main interests are in the terrestrial worlds of our solar system: Venus, Mars, and Titan.
- I am Inter-Disciplinary Scientist for the ESA's ExoMars 2016 mission(link is external), focussing dust & aerosols and their effects on trace gas chemistry.
- I was Science Operations Co-ordinator for ESA's Venus Express satellite(link is external).
- I use Venus Express data to study cloud properties, winds and radiative balance on Venus.
- I develop instrumentation for Mars landers for atmospheric science. In a collaboration between Oxford University's Engineering Science and Physics departments, I designed, calibrated and supplied wind sensors for the 2003 Beagle 2 and 2016 ExMars EDM Mars landers.
- I am developing a wind sensor for the Titan Dragonfly mission, together with the Johns Hopkins University / Applied Physics Lab.
- I develop mission concepts for future planetary exploration, in particular Venus mission proposals including the EnVision Venus Orbiter www.envisionvenus.net(link is external).
- I am a member of the teaching faculty of the Department of Physics, in this capacity I supervise undergraduate projects and have co-supervised several PhD students.
