Bio
I am a biochemist with wide experience in functional genomics particularly genetic approaches and proteomics. My major research interests include understanding of post-translational modifications, second messengers signaling mechanisms, epigenetics regulation, stress response, systems and structural analysis using tools such as RNA interactomics, functional genomics, proteomics. With the growing world population and growing food shortages, there is scientific need to determine ways to combat the diverse effects of stress on crops and plants in general. The ultimate goal of my research projects is to contribute to this social problem and impact the scientific community with tools that can help in solving the need for stress resistant/tolerant crop varieties. Currently, my projects focus on understanding developmental gene regulation, response to biotic and abiotic stresses and identification of novel signaling molecules and pathways through the application of genomics and proteomics tools as well as RNA interactomics. Overall, my research in these fields is multidisciplinary and systems oriented in approach.
