Bio
Claudia Loebbecke holds the Chair of Business, Media and Technology Management at the University of Cologne. Since 2012 she has been Board Member (Mitglied Stiftungsrat) of the Leibniz Information Centre for Economics ('ZBW - Deutsche Zentralbibliothek für Wirtschaftswissenschaften - Leibniz-Informationszentrum Wirtschaft'); since 2013 'Board Member' and 'Division Head' of the 'European Academy of Sciences' (EURASC), and since 2015 Scientific Director of the 'Grimme Research Institute at the University of Cologne' and Member of the Scientific Board of the 'Scientific Institute for Infrastructure and Communication Services' ('Wissenschaftliches Institut für Infrastruktur und Kommunikationsdienste', WIK).
2011-2013, she was Member of the High Level Group (HLG) on Innovation Policy Management to the European Council. In 2005-2006 she was elected President of the global Association for Information Systems (AIS); in 2012, she was named AIS Fellow.
Her previous employments include INSEAD (France), McKinsey & Co. (Germany), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong/PRC), Erasmus University (Rotterdam, NL), and Copenhagen Business School (DK). Research stays brought her to the University of New South Wales (Sydney, AUS), INSEAD (FR), Sloan School/MIT (US), Bentley University (US), London School of Economics (UK), LUISS University (IT), and University of Paris-Dauphine (FR).
Claudia Loebbecke serves as Senior Editor of the Journal of Strategic Information Systems (JSIS), as Advisory Board Member of Information Systems Research (ISR) and of the Journal of Information Technology (JIT), and on several Editorial Boards.
She received a Masters (1990) and a Ph.D. (1995) in Business Administration, both from the University of Cologne, Germany, and an M.B.A. from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, USA (1991). She was granted a Fulbright Scholarship (1986/87) and a DAAD Scholarship (1990/91) and is elected member of the Honor Society 'Beta Gamma Sigma'.
In 2011, she was awarded the first prize of the prestigious global Research Competition of the 'Society for Information Management' (www.simnet.org) for her study 'Assessing Cloud Readiness' with Dr. T. Thomas and T. Ullrich (both Continental AG). Her research focuses on business models and management aspects of digital and creative goods and on the innovative use of new media, information, and telecommunication technologies covering aspects such as electronic business, knowledge management, and new organizational forms. She has published over 200 internationally peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers and has contributed to the development of more than twenty in-depth case studies in eight different countries. For the period 2005-2009, she ended up among the top 25 researchers for the top eight IS journals.
