TING Chuo Yew (nickname: Samuel) is a dynamic person who has been actively involved in the development of society and humanity through research and social works.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from Taipei Medical University in 2007 and a Master Degree in Public Administration from Wawasan Open University as a part-time student in 2015. Subsequently, he begins to pursue his Ph.D. (Community Health) in 2016 as a part-time student. In 2017, he was also awarded a full scholarship by the Ministry of Health to pursue a Master of Medical Science (Public Health) at Universiti Malaya. Hence, he has been pursuing his PhD and a second master concurrently. Subsequently, he completes his second master and Ph.D. in years 2020 and 2021, respectively.
He had been working as a Drug Enforcement Officer for 9 years since 2008 and thus well trained in an inter-personal skills, public speaking, negotiation skill, and management skill. After completion of his Master at Universiti Malaya, he is posted to the Pharmacy Practice and Development Division of Sarawak State Health Department. Currently, he is appointed as the Chairperson of the R&D Committee under the Sarawak Pharmaceutical Services Division. Besides, he is appointed as the State Liaison Officer for the National R&D Committee and Pharmacy Information System & Clinical Pharmacy System (PhIS & CPS).
He has a vast interest in research, such as health behaviors, medication adherence, quality use of medicines, e-Cig, financial toxicity, and psycho-oncology using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. He has conducted 25 research projects as a principal investigator. While the majority are investigator-initiated research, he received a MYR 200,000.00 grant to conduct an industrially sponsored research on a newly invented male condom in 2017. To date, he has 15 publications as the first author in international ISI and SCOPUS indexed journals. Notably, he has two papers published in Tier 1 ISI indexed journal (Contraception; Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy). Currently, He serves as the Editor-in-chief for Sarawak Journal of Pharmacy and Academic editor for PLOS ONE.
Due to his passion and commitment to research, he received the “Most Promising Researcher Award” from Sarawak Research Society and Pharmaceutical Services Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
