Bio
His lab originally focused on plasticity and balance of excitation and inhibition in cortical circuit models of perceptual decision and executive functions. In the past ten years, his lab gradually shifted the research focuse to: 1) data-driven neural circuit models for the central nervous system of Drosophila and 2) reconstruction and analysis of Drosophila connectome. His major contributions in the field are the modeling of spatial orientation memory and the world’s first whole-brain spiking neural network model of the fruit fly. Several years ago, he began a collaborative project on neuromorphic engineering with the goal of designing an insect-like low-powered visual system for navigation and obstacle detection. Dr. Lo is also well-known for his work in neural network modeling of decision making and executive functions in his early career.
