Chris Crabtree received the Ph.D. degree in theoretical plasma physics from The University of Texas at Austin, Austin, TX, USA, in 2003. He joined the University of California at Irvine, Irvine, CA, USA, as a Department of Energy Fusion Post-Doctoral Fellow, where he was involved in the study of plasma physics of the near-earth space environment. He was with the Laboratory for Nuclear Science, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, USA, where he was involved in the study of magnetically confined fusion relevant plasmas and astrophysical plasmas. In 2009, he joined the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, DC, USA, where he is involved in physics of the radiation belts, solar wind, and orbital debris.
